Delayed or suspended rounds in Fantasy Golf
This article discusses what happens if a golf tournament is delayed, suspended, cancelled, or postponed due to weather or other circumstances.
It's possible your lineup deadline could change if a round is delayed, suspended, or postponed due to weather or other circumstances.
Regardless of whether a round is delayed or not, the initial deadline for editing your lineup for the following round will always be 2am Pacific Time on the day that the round was originally scheduled. After the previous round has been completed, the PGA Tour will announce the new tee time for the upcoming round. Once this data has been received from our data provider (generally 10-15 minutes following its announcement), we will open up the deadline, from the time we receive the new tee time until 5 minutes prior to that scheduled tee time, to allow you to make any last-minute adjustments.
Since the time from which tee time data is received to the scheduled tee time is relatively short, your window for editing your lineup in the event of delays is relatively small.
For some clarity on how deadlines for editing your golfer lineup are affected in the event of a delay, please see the below example (based on a 4-round tournament beginning on Thursday):
Round 1 (Thursday) - Your lineup must be set by 2am PT on Thursday for Round 1. Any changes to your lineup after 2am would be applied to Round 2. Due to weather conditions, Round 1 is delayed and must be finished on Friday.
Round 2 (Friday) - Your lineup must be set by 2am PT on Friday for Round 2, regardless of the fact that Round 1 has not been completed. Any changes you make to your lineup between 2am and the point at which we receive the new tee time for Round 2 would be applied to your Round 3 lineup. However, since there was a weather delay, we will open a window of time from the point that we receive the new tee time up until five minutes prior to the announced tee time. So, if Round 1 is completed at 8am on Friday, and the PGA Tour announces at 8:15am that the first tee time for Round 2 will be 8:55 am, and we receive this data by 8:30am, the window of time you have to edit your lineup would be from 8:30am - 8:50am (20 minutes). Please note, this is only an example, and the time frame you have to edit your lineup may be longer, dependent on when we receive the new tee time from our data provider and when that new tee time is announced to be. However, any lineup changes you make to your lineup outside of this time frame would be applied to Round 3.
Round 3 (Saturday) - Your lineup for Round 3 must be set by 2am PT on Saturday. The only way this will change is if Round 2 was not completed on Friday, in which case, you would again be allowed to edit your lineup up until 5 minutes prior to the Round 3 tee time, following the completion of Round 2, after the PGA Tour announces the new tee time for Round 3 and we have received the data from our provider. Any changes made to your lineup outside of the window of time for editing your lineup for Round 3 would be applied to Round 4.
Round 4 (Sunday) - Your lineup for Round 4 must be set by 2am PT on Sunday. Just as for Round 2 and Round 3, the 2am deadline will stand, unless Round 3 carries over to Sunday. You would again have the window of time following the completion of Round 3, from the time we receive the new tee time announcement for Round 4, up until 5 minutes prior to that tee time to adjust your lineup for Round 4.
Unfortunately, there is no set time as to when the PGA Tour will announce new tee times, so the time frame to edit your lineup for upcoming rounds will vary from event to event when a delay occurs. However, we will post a note on your team page and advise you of the new deadline.
Also, the next round's roster deadline will only be adjusted once we have received the next round's tee times from our data provider following the PGA Tour's announcement. Until this data has been received, the round will maintain the default deadline of 2am PT.
It is possible that this data doesn't process due to the previous round not yet being completed prior to the next round starting. In that case, the lineup you have listed for the previous round is what we will use for scoring and cannot be edited.
Regretfully, this also means that sometimes it'll be necessary to set your lineup for the weekend before it has actually been determined which golfers made the cut for the event.
